Download the image for an even higher resolution version of it. It's really kind of absurd how big the file ended up being.
I've lost A LOT of sleep over this. You have no idea.
To me, an example of great film making is when something sticks with you days, weeks, months after you've seen a movie. The last movie to do that to me was the entire lantern sequence in Disney's Tangled. Something about it was just so hauntingly beautiful.
This is a sort of tribute to that, and to one of my favorite shows right now.
I've had the idea to do a comic based on that sequence for awhile now. Although the concept always remained the same, the execution was always in flux. Eventually I settled on something that is pretty faithful to the original scene in the movie. The primary reason for that was really more technical than anything else. I had a few other ideas floating around but they would require me to create landscapes and backdrops I knew I couldn't do myself.
Also for those that I know will probably pick apart my word choice, song lyrics don't always translate well into words. I did my best to work the song into the comic. I had to change some phrasing and some words to make it more appropriate and to have it flow better with what I had. Despite that, I'm not 100% happy with it, but I don't think I would ever be satisfied unless I would've managed to squeeze the entire song into it. I think it could have flowed better if I wrote something myself, but I'm no writer.
I'm never doing something this big and complex again. This is also bar none the cheesiest and dorkiest thing I've ever done.
